One of my observations in the past few weeks is that socializing to me is like a muscle. I’ve gotta keep exercising it. Unfortunately like a somewhat weak muscle often never used , it’s easy for me to overexert it....
I’ve been getting better at socializing between classes, or sitting in groups with people I’m not entirely familiar with in the attempts to make new friends . I don’t have a clear idea of my limits. A fter a while, my brain and head starts to think faster than I can speak in conversation, and I get a slightly jittery sensation that translates to my movements with my hands and fingers. This is my sign that I might need to cool down even though wanna keep socializing.
I need to figure out how to either endure it and keep working against it or something because I’m enjoying the socializing. Just hating the jitters.
This is a sweet wallpaper tho!

I get it, I don’t like talking to strangers either. My kid’s school functions create the worst anxiety for me. Having to keep a conversation going with other parents I don’t have much in common with (besides our kids being in the same class) is hard. Once it’s over I think to myself “that wasn’t so bad”. But starting a couple days before I get stressed out, and often can’t sleep the night before. Only one of the fathers is into cars, but he rarely goes to said events. The ones who’s kids play every sport seem to huddle together. The moms stick together. I try to encourage my son to signup for soccer or basketball every year, but he has zero interest.

Maybe that’s how I should use that fidget spinner! Good idea!
